The new Baywatch movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Effron is not bad, it is a disaster.
Everyone knows of Baywatch. David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, the TV Series went from 1989 til 2001 and was one of the most viewed TV series ever and it was the ultimate definition of junk TV. and well the result is a junk Movie.
Dwayne Johnson plays Mitch Buchannon. David Hasselhoffs character in the series, a proud and arrogant life guard at the Baywatch beach who has to lead his team of elite lifeguards in taking down an evil drug lord. Zac Effron plays Matt Brody. Olympic winner in swimming who fell from grace after vomiting during a competition and now has to do life guarding as a community service.
THe chemistry between Johnson and Effron is also really unbelievable. With Mitch calling Brody names like Justin Bieber and High School Musical.
Now Dwayne Johnson is the kind of actor that currently appears in well everything, but he maybe should have been smarter than to appear in this movie. His character is even worse than The Hoffs original and most of the time you just sit there being annoyed at how stupid he is.
Kelly Rohrbach plays the role of C.J Parker, and plays the love interest of the “Nerd” of the movie and she is just a terrible actress. She makes the original, portrayed by Pamela Anderson seem good.
A bad script, bad acting, bad directing. This movie really have everything. It is under 2 hours long, and still feels like an eternity. It’s thematic is trying to appeal to fourteen year old prepubertal kids and they fail at doing that.
It is a kind of movie I Really wish I could forget that I have seen, there is absolutely nothing worth mentioning in quality cinema here, and when the highlight of the movie is a ten second cameo from The Hoff and Pamela it really says itself how much of a train wreck this is.
Even though Baywatch is meant to be an action comedy film, it fails at both genres. There are no good action here and the movie is not funny, what it is, is stupid. Seth Gordons directing is not really lifting up this abomination of a movie.
Baywatch will probably end up with a lot of Razzie awards, in the movie year of 2017 which has been very good Baywatch is almost disturbingly bad. It feels like the longest waste of time ever, and just gives you a headache.
