Blindspotting is a fun comedy drama tackling some social aspects of the US today.
The story is set in Oakland and follows a convicted felon on the last three days of parole, before he witnesses a police shooting that threatens to ruin a lifelong friendship.
I like this movie a lot. The screenplay is written by Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs who has been childhood friends and they also play the two leading roles which has great chemistry.
Daveed Diggs performance as the convicted african american is especially powerful, and he is a very likeable character. He is best known for his portrayal on popular sitcom Black-Ish.
In recurring roles we find Ethan Embry as the policeman struggling with the murder and Janina Gavankar as the ex trying to help Diggs character getting out of his friendship.
The narrative, the visuals, the poetry. Blindspotting is a work of art. With great screenplay, great acting, and tackling a lot of social questions.
The directing by Carlos Lopez Estrada is incredibly impressive when we realize that it is his very first feature film. With the rich cinematography by
Robby Baumgartner and the great soundtrack by
Michael Yezerski lifting Blindspotting up to one of the finest movies of 2018
